    Why Functional Nutrition

    Nourishing Health from the Inside Out.

    A functional approach is a systems approach. One that is investigative and uses clues
    to put pieces together versus the conventional model that looks at the body in parts
    unrelated to each other. As a functional nutritionist it is critical to ask “Why” and not
    “What.” Digging into a client’s story, symptoms and timelines then putting the pieces
    together to come up with a comprehensive individual protocol.


    We live in a world with a food system that is incentivized by profit and not the health of
    the people. By gaining education around real, whole food-based strategies a person can
    radically shift their health and overall wellbeing.


    It is a journey that requires time and commitment from the individual, but the outcomes
    can be life changing. Being your own advocate for your health and body is the best gift
    you can ever receive.

    Important Stats to Consider:

    In a research article published in the Journal of Biomedical Education “less than a third (35 of 121, 29%) of medical schools fail to provide the recommended minimum of 25 hours of nutrition education.”

    According to the CDC roughly 50-60% of adults have at least one chronic illness. 25-40% have multiple chronic conditions. This adds up to $4.7 trillion dollars in the US for healthcare. For individuals with chronic conditions they can expect to pay an average of $6,032 out of pocket for costs related to these conditions.​

    This is five times higher than for a person without chronic conditions. Individuals who utilize a functional approach that incorporates nutrition, fitness, wellness programs etc can not only save thousands of dollars but improve their quality of life.
